KENSASK’s second annual Mashujaa Day celebration held last weekend was a resounding success. Mashujaa is Swahili for Hero. Kenyans across the world celebrate Mashujaa Day – a public holiday in Kenya – on October 20 to remember those who have contributed to making Kenya a great nation that it is today.
The well attended celebrations were held on November 1, 2014 at Wollaston Hall, University of Saskatchewan.
Kenyans who have recently arrived in Saskatoon were acknowledged and welcome. They included six international students who came to Saskatoon this year to attend the University of Saskatchewan, and three people who arrived from other parts to Canada to accept employment offers in Saskatoon. It is also with great pleasure to point out that Kenyan families in Saskatoon have welcomed five new born babies over the past year.
I once again thank you for making time to attend the function.
